Acupuncture

  • Once you have booked your online initial consultation appointment, you will be sent a health questionnaire and ask for relevant medical information & test results you have had in the past.

  • Your initial consultation will be for one hour, during which we will discuss your health history, your journey so far, and what you’d like from treatment with me

  • I then follow up with a written bespoke treatment plan. This includes lots of information, any tests we might recommend, and the next steps.

  • A separate acupuncture session will be booked. During your treatment, I will feel your pulse and look at your tongue and then you lie down and fine hair-like needles are gently inserted. Usually, you have about 25 to 30 minutes with the needles in, where you can rest, relax deeply, and listen to music if you like. ( or take an acu-nap).

I like to work with people for at least three months, every week, though frequency can vary from person to person but we know that change can take time and is dependent on lifestyle, duration of the issue, and what the issue is. Three-month preparation is important for optimal impact on egg quality, hormone balance, and sperm health.

Please note that natural fertility treatment and IVF preparation take time to bear fruit, think of it this way when you plant a seed, it is important to prepare and nourish the soil, water and feed it, and give it time to grow. So it’s important to commit 3 to 6 months to natural fertility treatment to see positive results and for IVF preparation ideally 3 months. If you’d like to find out more about why we talk about 3-month prep please see our blog.

Sometimes patients feel a sharpness or tingling upon insertion of the needle but this is always momentary and dies away quickly, some feel nothing at all . For a few seconds, patients may then also experience numbness or heaviness when the needle makes contact with the energy at the point. This is a positive indication to the practitioner that the Qi has been influenced. During treatment many people have a nap (acu-nap) or feel a sense of calm and relaxation Rare occasions the needles can leave bruises but they are usually very small and quickly go away.

Have something light to eat, wear loose clothing if possible, and don’t worry about what pants you’re wearing or if you’ve shaved your legs.
